In Brussels, more than 104 languages are spoken, and many Brussels residents are bi/tri/…lingual. But what lies behind these numbers? What do we know about how multilingual brains work? How does multilingualism influence learning, thinking, and perception? How does it create a unique consciousness and a personal view of the world? Discover it during this session.

Jean-Marc Dewaele
We welcome Professor Jean-Marc Dewaele from Birkbeck, University of London. His research offers fascinating insights into the role of emotions and identity in multilingualism — a topic closely connected to the daily reality of multilingualism and multiculturalism in Brussels. He was recognized for this earlier this year.
