Brussels has always hosted immigrants from Easter Europe and the Balkans. Refugees from the Stalinist regime or workers. Similarly, every time the EU has expanded, new citizens arrived in Brussels. Some came to work for the EU institutions, others came to occupy a specific niche within the labour market and then, there are those who are simply looking for new opportunities.
