#3. ‘Citizen Science’ (EN/NL)

In recent years, several citizen initiatives have been launched in Brussels and across Europe to produce data from sensors installed not by government agencies but by citizens themselves. In Brussels, several air quality projects have been launched where sensors have been installed on gardens, balconies and window sills. In Barcelona, citizens have been mobilized around noise pollution and trained to use noise sensors. Can the production, interpretation and visualization of data be seen as an essential tool in today’s urban struggles?
